In recent days, a lot of independent artists like Sajjan Raj Vaidya, Sujan Chapagain, Bikki Gurung, Bartika Em Rai, and many more have come up with their beautiful pieces. It feels so good to see everybody supporting them with the love and attention they deserve. Many good movie songs and collaborations have also been growing in number. Well, a lot of thanks to TikTok too for being a means of driving attention to them.

1. Barud (2017)- Jerusha Rai

Barud is an interesting composition about the war/ struggle of Nepalese, probably the civil war. What makes this song more interesting is the calming voice of Jerusha Rai and beautiful drone shots of landscapes of Nepal on the screen. You'll regret having heard the song this late, but better late than never. 

2. Pardeshi Nabhana (2016) - Manish Dhakal

Pardeshi Nabhana is an emotional song featuring Nischal Basnet, sang by Manish Dhakal and produced by Songs Nepal. The song tells us the story of every individual who, forced by their financial conditions, has to work abroad away from their families. The song also shows us some real incidents and sad news of people who migrate to Gulf countries. The song then had been quite popular. Even today, many listeners consider it to be more painful than Saili.

3. Horiya (Baba Lagawe) (2021) - Almoda Rana Upreti

Horiya is a Tharu Folk song mostly sung by the Tharu communities of Chitwan. The song has been arranged and presented by Almoda Rana Uprety and sung by many artists including himself. Rich in culture with landscapes, language, and attire, the song gives you a pleasant feeling. Thanks to Almoda for giving space in his creation for cultures too. 

4. Fuzzscape- Hyolmo (2017) (Rohit Shakya, Rajan Shrestha, Pema Lama)

Fuzzscape is a collaboration project of various artists started by Fuzz Factory Productions. The video takes you to Shermathang, Helambu. It's a guarantee that the first second of the song itself will amaze you and even more as you view/listen along. It is a masterpiece in terms of cinematography, composition, video, lyrics, and is a package of creativity.

5. Ek Ekan Dui (2013) - Night Band

Ek Ekan Dui is a peaceful music song from the movie Chhadke. The song has been performed by the Night Band. The music has an integration of guitar with Nepali instruments like Madal, Sarangi, bansuri, etc. The video takes you through the bitter and complex relation of Namrata with her family (in the movie). The appearance of Namrata and her skills to effortlessly portray her hidden feelings have enhanced the flavor of the song.

6. Ghume Sara (2015) - Manav Subedi

Ghume Sara is a reflection song of Manav Subedi's Purba Paschim journey. He has tried to show the perpetual feeling of sadness of people throughout Nepal. However, he has also incorporated the hope of better and an invitation to learn more about our unity. In 2020, he re-released the song with a contrasting concept of how Nepali people can smile in every situationManav is one such Nepali musician who is extremely creative and talented. His beautiful creations are yet to reach more people. He certainly deserves more attention.

7. Phirphire (2016) - Kali Prasad Baskota

The song 'Phiphire' is the promotional video song of Buddhisagar's book 'Phirphire'. Written by Buddhisagar himself, composed by Kali Prasad Baskota, and arranged by Almoda, this song creates a strange emotion of nostalgia even without having read the book which gives a strong desire to as well. Both the song and the book will not let you down

8. Maya le Badhyo Yesari (2013) - Prabisha Adhikari and Prashant Subedi

This song is from the movie 'Manjari'. The music and the male voice (Prashant Subedi) are really good but the magic begins with Prabisha's voice. Her voice has a strong Shreya Ghoshal flavor and it wouldn't be wrong to call her our nightingale.
