9 UNDERRATED HINDI MOVIES ON NETFLIX

A lot of good movies often go unnoticed mostly due to budget reasons. Without paid promotion, no one likes to praise good movies. If we start exploring movies through good directors and actors, we have a chance of stumbling upon great movies. Then, all we have to do is talk about them and praise them so that they get the right attention. Here we have collected a list of really good but underrated Hindi movies that are available on Netflix.

Kuch Bheege Alfaz (2018)

Cast: Geetanjali Thapa, Zain Khan Durrani

Kuch Bheege Alfaz is an absolute happy romantic film. An RJ mistakenly comes across a girl through a phone call. They fall for each other without revealing their identities. The story of the movie isn't something new. It is neither unpredictable. But each moment as you watch, you'll get butterflies and beautiful feelings and you will not want the movie to end. 

SIR (2018)

Cast: Tillotama Shome, Vivek Gomber

A poor village girl works as a maid for the son of a wealthy family. They eventually fall in love. But the question is that if love is enough to be together or not. The question emerges from the class, status, and all the restrictions put by society. The movie will leave you thinking what matters in love and what doesn't.

Soni (2018)

Cast: Geetika Vidya Ohlyan, Saloni Batra

Soni, a young divorced police officer can not hold back when someone misbehaves with her. Looking down upon her, seniors take disciplinary actions against her and transfer her to control room. She who was already fighting against gender roles, has now to fight against her own uncertainties.

Liar's  Dice (2013)

Cast: Nawazuddin Siddique, Geetanjali Thapa

Liar's Dice is a painful story of a woman who is in the quest to find her husband who went missing after he migrated to town for work. The woman meets a man who is hiding from some people and who decides to help them for some money. Keeping the audience clueless about what's going to happen next, the movie leaves you an open ended story but with a sad tone that will make you cry your heart out.

Masaan

Cast: Vikcy Kaushal, Shweta Tripathi, Richa Chadda, Sanjay Mishra

Masaan takes you through the painful stories of two commoners. The son of a cremator falls in love with a girl. When they finally decide to move on together, life hits them hard with an unexpected twist. The other story is about a girl who decides to share a night with her student with mutual consent. However, they get caught in a raid. Her life changes forever when the guy commits suicide and the police decides to blackmail her.

Chaman Bahaar

Cast: Jitendra Kumar, Ritika Badiani

Chaman Bahar is a one-sided love story of a Paan wala who falls in love with a school girl living right in front of his shop. He who wants to persuade the girl doesn't realize that his innocent stares, love letters, gifts are actually harassments until he is confronted by the police and the girl's parents. This simple and realistic story will make you think twice before you hit on someone.

Billion Color Dreams (2016)

Cast: Dhruva Padmakumar, Gaurav Sharma, Vasuki

Billion Colour Dreams is an Hindi/ English language Black and White movie. A young boy observes the world with his family as they face problems as Muslims living in Hindu community. Amid the chaos, his parents teach him to stand strong with their vows. Seeing his parents in financial crisis, the boy tries to help them when an expected event changes their lives forever.

Peepli Live

Cast: Omkar Das Manikpuri, Raghubir Yadav, Nawazuddin Siddique, Nasiruddin Shah

Peepli Live is a satirical comedy towards the 'rough and ready' government schemes to uplift the poor and media channels who care hungry of creating 'so called breaking stories'. One of the two poor farmer brother decides to end his life as government provides 1 Lakh compensation to the family of such. When media finds about it, they compete against each other by manipulating the story. Despite the serious storyline, the movie has been portrayed in a hilariously comic way.

Ankhon Dekhi

Cast: Sanjay Mishra, Rajat Kapoor

Bauji sets on a journey to find his truth. That truth is either what is considered to be the truth or that what you have 'seen' to be true. He goes for the second. He declares he's only going to believe in what he sees. Ankhon Dehki is a philosophical movie, a genre not too much witnessed in Bollywood. Slow execution, realistic not dramatic performances with hidden meanings  might not be everyone's cup of tea. But if a realist art genre enthuses you, don't miss it.
