The nation is going in another lockdown from April 29th. No one knows till when. The situation is going to be different from the previous lockdown because we know have 'online classes' and 'work from home'. However, there is no going out. What can be a good substitute? Movies!
Some of us has pre-assumed perception that Nepali movies are not worth watching. First of all, let us stop comparing our movies to mainstream Bollywood and Hollywood movies. We see our industry progressing a lot these days. However, there were so many incredible movies that it gave us ahead of its time. Some became popular and successful while some remained unnoticed. Here is the list of some good Nepali movies you might want to watch during this lockdown.
10. Raghav

The story revolves around a guy who is entangled between family, love and career. Despite the very complexed life of the guy, the movie is shown in a simple way. You need watch this movie especially if you are living abroad, away from your family as it will take you through the journey of your family/love expectations and your life struggle.

Cast: Namrata Sapkota, Ashishma Nakarmi, Manav Subedi, Kamal Mani Nepal
Antaral is set in a slow and realistic pace. It depicts the story of few guys with not so standard living aiming to sustain their lives in the city. They go through different obstacle to realize how to survive. You'll find this movie relatable if you are struggling in the city away from your family.
8. Dhanda

Cast: Arpan Thapa, Samuna K.C, Dhurba Koirala
This movie closely shows how men and women across the country are manipulated for foreign employment and are cheated for money. The best thing about the movie is Arpan Thapa's incredible acting and the looks transformation that we barely expect from a Nepali movie.
7. Safar

Cast: Shibir Pokharel, Sanjay Gupta, Manan Sapkota, Nurja Shrestha
If you are craving for a Nepali version of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, this movie is the one for you. However, that doesn't imply that the movie is copied but it has similar vibes. Three guys who have a week left to return back to Nepal decide to make the week exciting and memorable. During their journey they realize some changes in their perspective of life and living. Unlike ZNMD, this movie will leave you with an unexpected twist in the end.
6. Gopi
Released in: 2019Director: Dipendra Lama
Cast: Bipin Karki, Surakshya Panta, Barsha Raut, Kamal Mani Nepal
Gopi is about a teacher of Economics who owns a farm and struggles to run it while his father expects him to get settled in the USA. He has to choose between the two. The journey is shown in a realistic manner. The other great thing that the movie does is normalize break up and beginning of another relationship without any melodrama.
5. Loot

Cast: Saugat Malla, Dayahang Rai, Reecha Sharma, Prateek Raj Neupane, Sushil Raj Pandey, Karma Shakya, Srijana Subba
The movie has the best casts. I'm sure, being a Nepali you must have heard about the movie. If you haven't watched the movie, hurry, the society is not going to accept you! Jokes apart, it is undoubtedly, the revolutionary movie of Kollywood. The presentation is incredible, the acting by everyone is amazing and the story is mind blowing. Haku Kale portrayed by Saugat Malla is one of the best character he has ever played.
4. Kagbeni
Released in: 2008Director: Bhusan Dahal
Cast: Saugat Malla, Deeya Maskey, Nima Rumba
The thriller Kagbeni is an adaptation of W.W. Jackob's short story 'The Monkey's Paw'. It is a supernatural story. No matter how much Deeya Maskey has been criticized for Himalayan Roadies, when it comes to acting, she is one of the finest actors of Nepal. The story shows how with a monkey's paw, you can get anything you want but in return you have to sacrifice something. You will not be able to stop yourself from appreciating the makers considering that the movie has been made 12 years ago!
3. Badhshala
Released in: 2013Director: Manoj Pandit
Cast: Dayahang Rai, Saugat Malla, Khagendra Lamichhane, Arpan Thapa, Anup Baral
Badhshala is a slow and a dark movie. The movie will take you back to the insurgency where so many journalists and other innocents taken to custody were disappeared. The movie went through a lot of criticism under the misuse of Nepali army uniform. You will barely see the faces of actors throughout the movie. Even in such context, the movie has been portrayed brilliantly.
2. Sanghuro
Released in: 2013Director: Joes Pandey
Cast: Shushank Mainali, Deeya Maskey, Dayahang Rai, Aruna Karki
Sanghuro is about a poor man struggling to find his privacy while he lives in a congested room with his mother. Under the harsh condition he resides in, he is forced to take a regretful decision. No money is no privacy? This is one of the most underrated movies. Such story and presentation is what we expect to see more.

Talakjung Vs Tulke is one of the best Nepali movies. Let me leave for you to find out more about the movie. It certainly deserves that much effort. The best part of the movie is literally everything! From cinematography, storyline, acting to the usage of colloquial language, everything will give you a great movie experience.
