Aamis Movie Review
Here's one of the best from Assam to add to the list of your favorite forbidden love stories; only it doesn't promise you usual heartaches and gallons of tears but emotions you don't at all expect to experience.
Aamis (2019) is an Assamese-language Indian movie starring Lima Das and Arghadeep Barugah directed by Bhaskar Hazarika. A tale of a middle-aged married woman unsatisfied with her marriage and her bonding with a young boy over their shared likeness for meat doesn't seem too promising in the beginning. But as the story goes on and takes a bizarre turn, you can't help but gasp and scream out aloud WHAT THE HELL!

Two people longing for one another's touch but forbidden by social norms and principles of their own, what ways can they possibly think of, to fulfill their desire? Where do you draw a line when it comes to love defined by extreme minds? How far can a human go in order to satiate his inner ravening? Aamis answers them all in the most unexpected ways.
You can not really fit Aamis into any particular genre. It is no Romeo-Juliet, doesn't even fit with the Hannibal. The calmness amidst violence is its trademark. The ability of it to wow you while sickening you makes it stand out. It's a creative rendition that defies your argument about wrong and right, morals and reality. You can not try and interpret it on moral grounds. You can just watch it and admire Hazarika's weird creative brilliance.
